Our adventures

Twins and Junkyard 3rd March’12

Another beautiful morning on Koh Tao, and after a spectacular sunrise it was time to load up the boat and head out for our morning of diving. I would be following Martin on the first 2 dives of his open water course with his Instructor Sim.

The first dive site was Twins, and after a short journey out on the boat, we were moored up at the dive site.

Martin first practiced his skin diving, spending a bit of time duck diving around the boat. Once he had completed this section, we geared up and jumped in for dive 1, and the visibility was amazing. There were no skills to complete so we were free to spend the whole dive swimming between the beautiful coral and fish that makes Twins one of the most popular dive sites on the island. We came across all sorts of life such as Scorpionfish, Moray Eels, Butterflyfish and a huge amount of reef fish normally found at the site.

After a relaxing surface interval in the sun, we made the short journey back in the direction of the shop to our second dive site for th

e morning, Junkyard. We descended the buoy line down onto the seabed and completed the skills for the dive and then were free to go off and explore this interesting man made dive site.

Swimming past strange objects such as toilets, gym machines and pick up truck is always a dive to remember. As always at Junkyard there were plenty of weird and wonderful critters to look at, from the resident Batfish and Strapweed Filefish to Mantis Shrimps and Plurobranchs.

After a nice long dive it was time to get back on the boat and we made the short journey to the shop to dry off and take a look through all of the photos from the day.
