Our adventures

Chumpon Pinnacle and White Rock 7th March’12

After a bright and sunny morning on Koh Tao, everyone at the shop was eager to get the boat loaded and head out for our first dive of the afternoon at Chumpon Pinnacle. The journey flew by with the sea completely flat and the boat just gliding through it, and before long we were moored up at the dive site. For this dive I would be following team Sweden, Ingemar and Matthias as well as Martin and Reiner on their Advanced Open Water course.

We dropped down the buoyline and onto the Pinnacle before heading out to find an area as close to 30m as we could to complete the skills for their Deep Dive. After some messing around with broken eggs and a few simple tests, the skills were over and we were free to go off and explore the huge pinnacle that makes up the dive site.

There was a huge amount of life on the site, with huge schools of Barracuda, Trevally, Fusilliers and plenty of the famous Groupers. The visibility was not as good as it can be, getting a little murky around 20m, but it was still a beautiful dive and everyone enjoyed themselves.

After a nice long surface interval, we were back closer to Koh Tao for our second dive at White Rock. For this dive the guys would be doing their Nitrox dive, and with no real skills to do underwater we had the whole dive free to explore the reef and search for critters. There seemed to be Blue Spotted Rays everywhere, sitting on the sand and posing for the camera. The visibility was much better than the first dive and the guys enjoyed a nice long dive with the added bottom time that Enriched Air Nitrox gives you.
