Our adventures

Koh Tao – getting on with things ….

Today the sun tried its hardest to get out but although it didn’t quite break through the clouds – I was wearing my sunnies. We had a few showers this afternoon but nothing to get excited about. The forecast for the next few days seems to bode well for drying out the puddles, left by the recent storm, too.

Most visitors to the island have left and the ferries are now arriving empty – we hear that some travel agents are telling visitors that the area is a no go – this is simply not true. Bars and restaurants are open and the beach is deserted.

Its a shame for locals who have had a rough time in the last few years where tourism has been effected by protests, airport closures and volcano eruptions in Europe. Businesses were certainly hoping for a hassle free year.

Its in the island interest to get back on its feet very quickly to welcome tourists back and indeed it is doing so. Below you will see a succession of five photographs which shows how quickly things turn around here.

    Hi Ayesha,
to let you know the British Foreign office is advising all but essential travel to koh tao, I hope this changes very soon as we are visiting on 20th April. I hope things get back to normal for you all over there and the visitors start coming back soon. When I saw all the news we presumed our trip to Koh Tao to be cancelled but after reading your blog I am absolutely delighted that we will still be able to come. I will keep my fingers crossed for some sunshine for you so things dry out a bit. Thanks for the info, Anna

Just an update, the UK foreign office have reviewed their advice and no longer advise against travelling to Koh Tao and Koh Phangang, so hopefully you will have visitors again soon. Thanks for the updates and we hope to see you soon

    Ayesha,

You legend for keeping us updated on the state of Koh Tao. I for one will not listen to these un-educated Goverment reports and will be winging my way to the turtle island on Thursday.

    Thank you

    Adam

    Ayesha,
Thank you so much to keep us up to date with the Koh Tao news. I would like to know what is the current condition for the PADI diving courses and how is the city recovering from all the rain?
I was planning on to be there around the 18th or the 19th of this month and i would like to know if I should re route my trip to Thailand and push my visit to Koh Tao a week later?
    Thank you so much

    Ayesha,
Thank you so much. We are on a very short budget.Masters Divers do not offer free basic accommodation, do you?
If not, what is the cheapest accommodation you can find me? It will be two of us.

    Thank you again
