This week, we visited the wreck of the HTMS Sattakut, which you may notice pops up on our dive report very frequently. This is because it is regularly scheduled for Wreck Adventure Dives as part of PADI Advanced Open Water Diver courses, and also on the PADI Wreck Diver course.

South West Pinnacle: Located further offshore, South West Pinnacle offers a similar allure to Chumphon but with its own distinct charm. Towering rock formations create dramatic underwater landscapes, adorned with sea whips, gorgonian fans, and sponges. This site is renowned for its healthy hard coral gardens in the shallower sections and the potential for encounters with larger pelagics like whale sharks, manta rays, and even the occasional leopard shark in the deeper areas. The varying depths and potential for strong currents make it an ideal location for practicing deep diving techniques and utilizing advanced dive planning.

Sail Rock: Situated between Koh Tao and Koh Phangan, Sail Rock is a legendary dive site famous for its vertical “chimney” that divers can descend through. They are also excellent locations for conducting Discover Scuba Diving experiences or guiding less experienced divers, showcasing the patience and mentorship qualities of a true Master Diver.

HTMS Sattakut Wreck: For those with a penchant for wreck diving, the HTMS Sattakut, a former Royal Thai Navy warship sunk as an artificial reef, offers a fascinating exploration.
