It has not been very long since we posted our final update from March 2020 for the Weekly Dive Site Reports. This last post was a review of our final special staff-only trip to Chumphon Pinnacle… Guess what? We’re back already with a new video (and some updates on the conditions)!!!
Thailand is slowly finding its way out of the COVID-19 lockdown and the local government has given green light for the dive operators on Koh Tao to slowly start up again. There are still some restrictions in place, mostly to maintain a safe distance and hygiene, and we are taking all necessary measures to protect our guests and staff members. At the moment there are very small group sizes and ratios in place.
To celebrate the occasion, we took our team out (on three separate trips to maintain a safe distance) and enjoyed some amazing fun dives. Thanks to dive shop owners Elaine & Graham there is some photographic evidence of these special dives and we were able to create this little compilation for you!
One of the trips our team took last week was a mid-morning trip to Chumphon Pinnacle and White Rock for the second dive. Especially during the very first dives (after a very long surface interval) our divers couldn’t help, but marvel at the wonderful schools of fish.
We were very pleased to see that our reefs looked healthy and there was a good variety of all sorts of marine life to be seen – the big guys and the macro stuff as well!
Speaking of the ‘small stuff’: We can never swim past these really cute little polka dot nudibranchs. They are in fact quite common on Koh Tao, but truly stand out with their black and white pattern… What about you? Do you enjoy spotting nudibranchs during your dives?
Overall we can say that we really enjoyed our dives last week and we’re pleased to be back in the water. In fact, we can’t wait for you to come and visit us on Koh Tao soon so that we can go diving together. Fingers crossed that the travel restrictions will be lifted soon and you can start planning your next holiday!!!
What do you think? Do you miss diving just as much as we did? Let us know in the comments…
