We are finally back online with our weekly update of Koh Tao’s diving conditions. Our ‘photo guy’ Dan is back from a little holiday and has captured the best underwater moments of the previous week.
The weather has been a bit windy lately as we are experiencing the tail end of the monsoon over the Andaman coast. But fear not, diving conditions are still generally great and one of the advantages of living on a tiny island is that there’s almost always a sheltered bay where we can ‘hide’ from the wind!
As August started, we have seen a lot more families travelling to Koh Tao and looking for activities to do together on the island. Did you know that you can sign up for a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver course as soon as you turn 10 years old. But even for anyone who’s 8 years (or older) we can conduct the PADI Bubblemaker program where you learn how to breathe & blow bubbles under water in a very confined environment.
This junior diver had actually completed a Bubblemaker with us a few years ago and loved it so much that he convinced his parents to come back this year and do his (Junior) diving license.
Looks like he’s got the hang of it and learned from instructor Kiri and Divemaster Candidate Phil to maintain a very good swimming position under water:
We had more kids courses this week and especially with the juniors a small student-to-instructor ratio is very important for us. These two look like they had a fantastic day exploring the underwater world:
We had a great week diving and love the fact that there were so many new (& old) divers that joined us on our trips. We will be back next Monday for the latest dive site report!
